Paddington Design Intentions

Future architecture (2025) must allow for the communal and global awareness of sustainable issues, and the ways in which individuals and humanity as a whole are able to assist towards a sustainable future, and the survival of humanity.

The last decade of society has changed based upon technological advancements and decisions of the global market. Therefore possibly the next ten years of society and architectural design will be based upon technological advances.

SUSTAINABLE SOCIAL DESIGN
Access to essential services and shelter, revitalize disaster and unplanned areas, and create a sense of responsibility and community among its inhabitants.

Within the next decade the most significant issue to impact humanity and the environment is POPULATION GROWTH. By 2030 it is expected that over 5 billion people will live in urban areas, which comes at the price of destroying agricultural lands, forests, nature reserves and ecological systems.

DESIGN STRATEGIES to assist with Population Growth:
Vertical Cities (concept of entire cities in one significantly sized skyscraper)
ADVANTAGES
Ceases urban sprawl (the destruction of more nature.. requires cultural change) and establishes communities
Must allow for a margin to limit expansion of vertical cluster community
Vertical cities allow for the disconnection to the surrounding world of earthly distraction (establishing requirement for community) yet still allow for connection through travelling
The concept of stacking towers onto existing towers or connecting spaces between towers
DISADVANTAGES
Communities may be based upon economic statuses which will only separate the classes of humanity more
Vertical cities will create gigantic shadows onto the existing landscape of the city
Adaptable/Modular Architecture
Allows for cultural change and minimal waste of space and materials
Energy Efficient Designs
Including sources of purely renewable energy
Minimalization of Transport
Locality of Resources
Shared Shelters and Communal Spaces
Reforestation
Allows for education of caring for the environment to younger generations
Underground Cities/Towers
Community Building Blocks
The concept of suburb size infrastructures which easily fit into place with other suburbia blocks, whilst still allowing for natural sunlight and ventilation
Converting Prisons to Industrial Areas
The concept that punishment for prisoners is to provide industrial services for the outside community

Sustainable Technologies within the community will allow for the social awareness of sustainable change.
Technology will continue to further the connection of the world.. possibly leading to a possible global alliance of humanity!
