'Designing the Future' Videos

(video sourced from http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e6_-XT97Yu8&feature=BFa&list=PL54CED34117DA3B96)
“A nation without a vision of what the future can be is bound to repeat past errors, over and over again. This brief video will outline a vision designed to avoid all mistakes. A vision of efficiency, sustainability and intelligent planning can lead us into a new world of unlimited human potential."

As outlined within Part one of this video, the future is designed through an efficient 'Systems Approach'. The considerations outlined within the shown systems approach of an innovative circular city are as listed below:

OVERALL FUNCTIONING
The closed-loop system is ideally the most efficient and sustainable system when considering the effects that human population have on the surrounding environment. A closed-loop system depicts a system where every waste is a resource. No waste goes out and only free renewable energy comes in.
EASE OF ASSEMBLING
Prefabricated modular structures are the future. As explained within the above video, a set of standard structures able to fit together in any outcome required to reach the unique requirements, will allow for extremely cost efficient buildings/cities.
REDUCTION OF MAINTENANCE
The continued expenses of maintenance on city infrastructures such as roads and buildings, can in the future (if designed correctly) be spent towards more beneficial projects such as schools and community spaces.

EFFICIENT TRANSPORTATION
Future systems of transportation will allow for fast, productive transportation of extensive numbers of  people, will minimize pollution on the environment, and will be able to travel both horizontally and vertically in any desired direction.
SIMPLICITY AND DURABILITY
Simple and durable structures in the future, like today, will still be major concerns for structural and architectural design.

An additional future factor: ENVIRONMENTAL CONCERNS
Renewable energy in the terms of environmental concerns, shall become the only source of energy within hopefully the near future. All exterior structures and windows will be covered in photo voltaic cells to capture solar energy.

Part Two of the video explores the concept of oceanic cities, built upon artificial floating islands. Oceanic cities will allow for exploring of the oceanic depths, fresh water production, energy and mining. The oceanic depths may provide humans with unlimited resources such as oil and natural gases, aswell as the possibility of new unfound resources and materials. These cities will be resistant to earthquakes, although natural disasters such as tidal waves may provide for future issues.
